AfterPay

To be eligible to use Afterpay you must:

  • Be an individual who is at least 18 years old (19 years old in Alabama or if you are a ward of the state in Nebraska);
  • Be a resident of the United States and reside within one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia;
  • Be capable of entering into a legally binding contract;
  • Have a valid and verifiable email address and mobile telephone number;
  • Provide a valid delivery address in the United States; and
  • Be authorized to use the Payment Method provided (US-issued debit or credit card and AMEX)

How to use Afterpay:

  • Add your items to the shopping cart and checkout as normal
  • Valid for amounts between $0 and $1500 for first time Afterpay users.
  • On the checkout page select Afterpay as your payment method
  • Enter your details with Afterpay and you're done

You will more than likely pay the first installment of the purchase price at the time you place the order.  If you have been shopping with Afterpay for some time, and have a really good repayment history., you may find that we defer taking the first payment until 2 weeks (15 days for residents of California) after you make your purchase.

In all cases you will be notified on screen if the first payment is due at the time of the purchase. We also send you a confirmation email outlining the amounts and dates that the payments are due.

First payment higher than the other three?

For some purchases, if your total order amount exceeds your Afterpay-approved spending limit the first payment may be higher than subsequent payments. Afterpay will show you how the installments are split before you pay.

FAQs:

Afterpay allows retailers to offer instalment plans for online shoppers, allowing a purchase to be paid for in four installments, due every 2 weeks.

Simply shop with one of your favorite stores found in the Shop Directory and choose Afterpay as your payment method at checkout. First-time shoppers provide payment details as usual, returning shoppers simply log in to make their purchase. It’s that easy!

After you check out, the goods will be shipped to you by the retailer. At any time, you can log in to your Afterpay account to see your payment schedule and make a payment before the due date. Otherwise we will automatically take the money from your AMEX, debit or credit card on your payment due dates.

Please Note: Afterpay does not approve 100% of orders. We are committed to ensuring we support responsible spending.

When determining which orders to approve, we consider a number of different factors. As an example, the longer you have been a shopper using Afterpay and the more orders you have successfully repaid, the more likely you will be able to spend more.

Things to consider:

  • are there sufficient funds on your card (generally we look to see the first installment amount available to spend)
  • length of time you have been using Afterpay (tighter in the first 6 weeks)
  • amount you have to repay, it may help to pay some off (not a guarantee)
  • the value of the order you are trying to place, it may help to reduce the value of your shopping cart (not a guarantee)
  • the number of orders you currently have 'open' with us (not a guarantee)

Whilst we know it can be frustrating to not know exactly how much you can spend each time or how many active orders you can have, our rules and approval process help Afterpay responsibly offer a completely free service to shoppers.

How do I sign up to Afterpay?

You do not need to register prior to making your first Afterpay purchase. When you are making a purchase on the site, simply choose Afterpay as your payment method at checkout. If it’s your first time using Afterpay, you will provide payment details as usual to complete your purchase.

Once your first order is approved, your Afterpay account is created. All you need to do is visit www.afterpay.com.au to set up a password, and you will be able to make more purchases using Afterpay by simply entering your log in details upon checkout.

Is there a cost to use Afterpay?

Afterpay is a free service offered by retailers to shoppers - there are no upfront fees charged or any interest incurred.

The only fees that may be incurred by shoppers are late fees if your scheduled payments are unsuccessfully processed and, after being notified, you do not log in to your Afterpay account to make your payment via a different method.

Late fees for shoppers in the USA are capped at 25% of the order value.

Is Afterpay safe and secure?

We understand how important security is so we ensure that your personal information is protected. Afterpay is a PCI DSS Level 1 certified compliant Service Provider organisation.

PCI DSS is a comprehensive set of requirements created by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council to enhance cardholder data security and to ensure the safe handling and storage of sensitive credit card information and data.

This is the highest level of security in the payment industry.

Are my payments automatically deducted from my card?

To make it easy for you to stick to your payment plan, Afterpay provides automatic payments.

This means on the due date, we take your next installment from the original card used when you placed your order.  We will always send you reminders before an installment is due, so you just need to make sure that there is enough in your account for that installment and we do the rest.

If a payment for an order fails, we will try other cards on your account, if you do not want the old card charged at all we do recommend removing it as soon as possible.

If your payment is still outstanding after the applicable grace period then you may be charged up to an $8 late fee, which we hate doing, if you're worried you won't be able to make a payment, give us a call here and we will try to sort something out.  Even though we provide a grace period, our system reviews your repayment history for future purchases, so we encourage you to pay as soon as possible.

Alternatively, you can always make payments manually on time or early - by clicking on the PAY NOW button in your account online or in the App.

How much can I spend with Afterpay?

When determining which orders to approve, our automated system considers a number of different factors. As an example, the longer you have been a customer with Afterpay and the more orders you have successfully repaid, the more likely you will be able to spend more. Restrictions are tighter for 'new'customers (first 6 weeks) until we get to know you.

Whilst we know it can be frustrating to not know exactly how much you can spend each time, our rules and approval process help Afterpay responsibly offer a completely free service to our customers.

The good news is that each time you use Afterpay we are making a fresh decision, and over time you will be able to spend more so long as you continue to repay your installments on time.

What if I want to return my whole purchase?

Returns are subject to our usual Bikes Online Returns Policy. So contact us (not Afterpay) to arrange the return and ensure the goods are sent back in a saleable condition.

When we receive the goods and accept the return, Afterpay will be notified and all future payments for that order will be cancelled. If you have already made one or more payments to Afterpay, the total amount paid will be refunded to the credit/debit card that you used to place the order. We then notify Afterpay, whom will then process the refund immediately and send you an email to confirm that the refund has been applied. The bank may take 48 hours or longer to refund the money to your card.

Please note, you will be liable for all payment amounts until Afterpay receives confirmation from the retailer that a return has been accepted.

What if I only return some of the goods I purchased? How do I obtain a partial refund?

Once again, returns are subject to Bikes Online Returns Policy so contact us first (not Afterpay).

When we receive the goods and accept the return, Afterpay will be notified and the refund will be applied. Please note that refund amounts are taken off the last payment/s first. If at least one payment has been made in relation to this purchase, and the refunded amount is greater than the amount outstanding, the difference between these amounts will be refunded to the credit/debit card that you used to place the order. The bank may take 48 hours or longer to refund the money to your card.

For example, let’s say you made a $400 purchase using Afterpay (i.e. 4 instalments of $100 each) and wish to return items worth $250. Once we notify Afterpay that the return has been approved, they will cancel your 3rd and 4th instalments of $100, and amend your 2nd instalment to $50. Your new payment schedule would become 2 payments (instead of 4) of $100 & $50. If you had already made 2 payments to Afterpay of $100 each, a refund of $50 would be applied to your card and the remaining 2 payments would be cancelled.

You can log in to your Afterpay account at any time to view your updated payment schedule.

Please note, Afterpay will hold you liable for all payment amounts until Afterpay receives confirmation from Bicycles Online that a return has been accepted.
