Marin Nicasio Series

What riding style is this geometry intended for?

The Nicasio has an upright position that's as at home commuting into the city as it is rolling round country lanes on the weekend

How many gears does this bike come equipped with?

There are several models that range in gear sets of 2x8spd to 2x10spd

Are the wheels tubeless ready?

Unfortunately these wheels are not tubeless ready because they are built with durability in mind where you might be hitting potholes or for riding off into the sunset where sealant top ups are not possible.

Are the tyres tubeless ready?

As tubeless tyres are still a new technology and can be a personal preference decision with some people preferring to keep using the tried and tested innertube, this bike will come with traditional innertube specific tyres.

Are tubeless valves and tape provided with the bike?

Not with this bike, but if you're looking to make the switch the wheelsets are able to be upgrades with a kit from some of our aftermarket suppliers on our website

What groupset is this bike equipped with?

There are models with Shimano Claris, Tiagra or the new Microshift Advent. All having a theme of basic reliability in mind to keep you rolling for longer, despite maybe suffering a few bumps along the way.

What brakes is this bike equipped with?

Disc brakes have become a must on the modern road bike. Offering strong and reliable braking performance in any condition. When you are flying down your local descent you want to know your brakes are going to pull you up on time.

Does this bike come in any other colours?

Each season there are new colourways offered throughout the range. Unfortunately getting the right colour for you in the spec you are looking for isn't always possible because the colourway is season dependent for each specific model in the range.

Does this bike come with any other specs?

The Nicasio's steel frame and basic components make it ideal straight out of the box for some entry level touring or prime to be upgraded with personal preference parts you might find suit where you want to use it. There are a few models to choose from but if you're unsure then just get in contact with our customer service team.

What's the bikes' frame material?

The double butted CrMo steel is what makes this frame special. Offering a riding characteristic that is like no other. Steel is real!

What's the bikes' fork material?

The higher range models are coming with a full carbon fork offering lightweight and stiffness where it counts and the entry level model has a CrMo fork for simplicity and still being able to deliver a comfortable ride.

What's the bikes' wheels’ material?

Aluminium rims for durability and serviceability

Does this bike come with thru axles or QR skewers?

Some models have a through axle on the front to help with alignment to get that front brake working well with the rear having the tried and true quick release system means it's a breeze to get wheels off for those unlucky moments when you need to fix a flat tyre and you might be loaded up on a trip.

What is the weight of this bike?

When you're searching for a touring / do-it-all bike the weight might be lower down on your priorities because you're after durability and adaptability, although weighing in at around 12-13kg the Nicasio is still respectable amongst other options on the market.

What's the supplied tyre width?

When you're cruising around the city street you want your bike to be able to handle a curb or two so that's why the Nicasio features 700x37c or 700x30c tyres. Offering a bit of stability for a weekend away while still offering efficiency on the pavement.

Does this bike come with pedals?

Yes this bike does come with some commuting specific pedals to get you going but there's always the option to upgrade to a different shape of flat pedal for traction or move to a Clip-in style pedal and shoe combination

Can I fit more than one bottle cage in this frame?

This model has a couple of mounts available for a bottle cage or another storage solution. Keeping you hydrated and allowing access to spares if needed. With additional mounts all over the frame and fork to strap on any number of portage accessories

What tyre pressure should I run?

As the tyres are larger in volume to a traditional road bike it's recommended to start softer and work you way up in pressure. So we recommend pressures in the range of 50-60psi.

Does this bike come with a power meter?

No, because these models are usually not suited to customers looking to measure their power, but it is possible to fit any number of power meters to the frame as all the frame standards are pretty "normal" for the industry.

Does this bike come with electronic shifting?

This model does not come with electronic shifting to keep value in mind and serviceability.

Can I use this bike for triathlons?

One of the great things about the triathlon scene is that you can almost ride on any type of bike if you'd like. So yes, this bike will easily be able to do a triathlon.

Can I fit triathlon aero bars to the handlebars?

Not Ideally, but if you are planning on doing some multi discipline riding then a set of clip-on bars would certainly open up the field of riding you can do.

Can I set this bike on the trainer?

Yes, although we recommend using a steel rear quick release axle or the axle provided with the trainer you have purchased.

Can I fit mudguards or a rear rack to this bike?

Yes, there's more than enough space to run a full size fender set, although take care with your tyre size to maintain clearance for mud shedding.

How wide are the handlebars?

400-440mm in width

What's the stem length?

75-90mm

Does this bike come equipped with front and rear lights?

No, lights must be purchased separately.

What riding category is this bike intended for?

For the Nicasio Series, in accordance with Polygon's universal classification, these bikes belong to bike class 3. You can read more about the various classifications here.
